Evan Wilson on the way back
Tidbits from Loren Tate:
—Patches of new cement and a fresh sealant have been completed in Memorial Stadium’s east stands — all rows up to 50 — and it took a crew of six workers eight days to put all the seating back in.
— Sophomore Evan Wilson, fully recovered from a hamstring pull, competed in Tuesday’s scrimmage and jubilantly exclaimed: “The tight end position is expanding in the passing game by leaps and bounds.” Wilson adds that he relishes “the competition from the good-looking freshmen” Jon Davis and Matt LaCosse.
— Still no word on junior Ashante Williams, the suspended outside linebacker who may or may not return to the team. Of converted safety Trulon Henry, now starting in Williams’ spot, Zook said: “Trulon is doing extremely well, exactly what we thought he could do. When you look at position changes, you need to wait until the end of the year to really know how it turns out. We’re satisfied on all our moves. We’re not going back on any of them.”
— Michael Buchanan got dinged in the shoulder in the last major scrimmage Tuesday but Zook indicated it wasn’t serious. The only hard-hitting contact from this point will be blitzes and goal-line work. The show team is being prepared to demonstrate anticipated Arkansas State plays to the varsity.
