13th District spending tops $4 million
Total spending on the 13th Congressional District race already exceeds $4 million, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
Democrat David Gill of Bloomington has spent $643,380 so far in his campaign, and Republican Rodney Davis, who has been a candidate only since late May, reports spending $406,002.
Tom Kacich: Johnson plans to help fund some candidates
U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson is no longer a candidate, but he's not out of politics. The Urbana Republican, who will retire from political life in early January, still has a campaign fund with more than $270,000, and he's planning to spend some of that to support candidates.
Hays, Langendorf seek 104th District Illinois House seat
In the 104th District of the Illinois House, incumbent Chad Hays of Catlin will face Michael Langendorf of Urbana on Nov. 6 for a seat that represents a small portion of Champaign-Urbana, parts of northern Champaign County and much of Vermilion County.

CHAMPAIGN — Legislative candidates in the 103rd House, 104th House and 52nd Senate districts will meet Thursday night in a debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County, the NAACP and The News-Gazette.
High schools take part in election
This week, Champaign County high schools are precincts, and their libraries and gathering places are polling places as students participate in a county-wide mock election.
In Centennial High School's library on Tuesday, members of social science teacher Mark Sikora's second-hour class were the first that hour to vote.
