DANVILLE — By a sizeable margin, Vermilion County voters said yes in Tuesday's referendum to granting the county board the authority to sell Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.
The question passed by several thousand votes — 15,677 yes votes to 9,207 no, according to unofficial totals, which do not include about 3,000 early votes still being tabulated.
DANVILLE — With about 3,000 early votes still to count late Tuesday night, totals from all the votes cast on Tuesday had the Republicans taking majority control of the Vermilion County Board away from the Democrats.
If the results hold after all the early votes are tabulated, the Republicans gained two new seats and the power to decide who's the next county board chairman.

The incumbents in three contested Illinois legislative races were victorious Tuesday night, as Democrats Michael Frerichs and Naomi Jakobsson and Republican Chad Hays were all re-elected.
