Davis ekes out his 1st victory
Republican Rodney Davis, aided by wins in counties at the southern and western edge of the 13th Congressional District, is going to Washington.
He narrowly defeated Democrat David Gill of Bloomington, who nearly pulled out a victory with a huge vote advantage in Champaign County and lesser margins in Sangamon and McLean counties.

Republicans sweep into four Champaign County offices
URBANA — Republicans swept all four contested countywide races in Champaign County on Tuesday, claiming the auditor's office for the first time in more than three decades.
By narrow margins, voters elected John Farney and Katie Blakeman as auditor and circuit clerk, respectively.
County Clerk Gordy Hulten and Recorder Barb Frasca were returned to office by broader margins.

URBANA — The new-look Champaign County Board will remain in Democratic hands by a 12-10 margin following Tuesday's voting.
Voters give board authority to sell Vermilion Manor
DANVILLE — By a sizeable margin, Vermilion County voters said yes in Tuesday's referendum to granting the county board the authority to sell Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.
The question passed by several thousand votes — 15,677 yes votes to 9,207 no, according to unofficial totals, which do not include about 3,000 early votes still being tabulated.
GOP may gain majority on Vermilion County Board
DANVILLE — With about 3,000 early votes still to count late Tuesday night, totals from all the votes cast on Tuesday had the Republicans taking majority control of the Vermilion County Board away from the Democrats.
If the results hold after all the early votes are tabulated, the Republicans gained two new seats and the power to decide who's the next county board chairman.

Frerichs, Hays, Jakobsson all win re-election in set of one-sided races
The incumbents in three contested Illinois legislative races were victorious Tuesday night, as Democrats Michael Frerichs and Naomi Jakobsson and Republican Chad Hays were all re-elected.
In the 52nd Illinois Senate District race, Republican John Bambenek challenged Frerichs.
