A political novice is challenging two longtime Democratic members of the Champaign County Board in an all-new district in north Champaign and Urbana.
Candidates for contested county board races were given the opportunity to answer a series of questions about county government. Here are the answers from Rachel Schwartz, a Democrat candidate in District 7:
CHAMPAIGN — Three Democrats — an incumbent county board member, a former mayor of Urbana and an associate professor of accountancy — are seeking two seats on the Champaign County Board in District 7, which includes much of south Champaign.
So far there is no Republican candidate in the district for the fall general election.
