A witness said Robert D. Day, 41, was driving a fertilizer applicator east on County Road 2000 N near Illinois 121 east of Dalton City when he was hit by a northbound train at the crossing, resulting in two fires.

    As many as 4,000 workers will vote Aug. 3-4 at the vehicle assembly plant in Canton. The union has promised it will help negotiate better working conditions, benefits and wages, but managers warn it will ultimately hurt both the company and the workers.
