After wait, Creydt helping Illinois

CHAMPAIGN – This summer, it was Lindsey Creydt's turn to call Terri Sullivan.

The phone calls went the other direction 15 months earlier, when then-Illinois-Chicago softball coach Sullivan tried to recruit Creydt, an infielder from Springfield.


Announcer given honor by UI club

Jim Turpin shows up for most Illini Quarterback Club luncheons. But at last Friday's event, the school's longtime radio play-by-play voice became part of the festivities.

Lured to the luncheon under the guise of being needed for the program, Turpin instead was named the third recipient of the club's Illini Legends award. The first two honorees were Dike Eddleman and the late George Halas.
