Future may hold limited pensions for lawmakers

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois House sent the governor a scaled-back pension reform bill that would prohibit future members of the General Assembly from earning bonuses for serving more than 20 years.


Senate vote on ERA likely will be delayed

SPRINGFIELD - A Senate panel approved the Equal Rights Amendment Thursday, but a vote by the full chamber will likely be delayed until the fall to give time for more public hearings, said Senate President Emil Jones, D-Chicago.

UI's Nagle makes mark at NCAAs

Thursday was a great day for Illinois freshman Patrick Nagle, but the same can't be said for the rest of the Illini men's golf team, which was eliminated from NCAA tournament play at Stillwater, Okla.

Nagle made a strong case for freshman All-America honors, tying a course record with a 6-under-par 66 at the 7,095 Karsten Creek Golf Club. The Big Ten Freshman of the Year equaled a mark held by two others at the 10-year-old course.

Illinois golfers falter at NCAA

Day 2 at the NCAA golf championships in Stillwater, Okla., proved to be a difficult chore for Illinois.

Tied for ninth after Tuesday's opening round, Illinois shot 32-over-par 320 Wednesday to fall to 22nd place at Karsten Creek Golf Club. UCLA leads at 22-over 598, and Illinois enters today's third of four rounds at 48-over 624.
