SPRINGFIELD – Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer is now the only remaining candidate for the 104th District House seat held by retiring state Rep. Bill Black, R-Danville.
Eisenhauer's Republican primary opponent, Danville Alderman Terry Baldwin, has with-drawn from the race, citing health issues. Baldwin, who is a teacher in Urbana, got a liver transplant last year because of a rare genetic disease. Last week, he ended up in the emergency room with high blood pressure.
DANVILLE – City council members voted to place a $6.41 million tax levy on display Tuesday night until its adoption Dec. 18.
The proposed levy is a 4.88 percent increase over last year's $6.12 million levy.
DANVILLE – Mass-transit workers will receive a 4 percent increase under a new contract approved by the city council Tuesday night.
The Danville city council approved a three-year agreement with employees from the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 703 after a brief closed session.

CHAMPAIGN – Scott Tapley today announced plans to step down from the Champaign County Board as a result of taking a new job in Indiana.
Tapley, a Champaign Republican who represents southwest Champaign County, is joining 1st Source Corp. Investment Advisors in South Bend on Dec. 10. But he said he hasn't decided specifically when he'll resign from the county board.
URBANA – A man with ties to Champaign County was charged Monday with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly committing sex acts with a teen runaway from Arizona.
Ryan Nibbe, 28, for whom authorities listed addresses in Tucson, Ariz., and Rantoul, is scheduled to be back in Champaign County Circuit Court on Dec. 4. State's Attorney Julia Rietz said Nibbe was arrested Thursday in north Urbana about 1 p.m. by Illinois State Police who pulled his vehicle over for a traffic violation on U.S. 45 near Kenyon Road.
URBANA – Champaign County Health Care Consumers hopes to deliver a special Thanksgiving card to Carle Clinic today.

CHAMPAIGN – Police are asking citizens to help with information about a possible shooting in Champaign.
Police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said a witness at a business in the 2300 block of West Springfield Avenue claimed an unknown man came into the store about 11:40 p.m. Monday and claimed he had been shot, but then left.
An 18-year-old Urbana man is accused of going into a car in an Urbana parking lot looking for money.
Cory A. Shoemaker, who listed an address on Toni Lane, was arraigned and pleaded innocent Monday to a charge of burglary to a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $3,000 and he is due to return to court for a pretrial hearing Dec. 18.
