Scam artists posing as city workers in Danville

DANVILLE — Danville police are warning the public about individuals knocking on doors and posing as city workers trimming trees, so they can get into homes and burglarize them.

Champaign man faces two drug charges

URBANA – A Champaign man who prosecutors say possessed cocaine near a school in Urbana and at his home is due back in court in March after being charged with two Class X felony counts.

Allen Burgin, 48, of County Road 100 N was charged Wednesday in Champaign County Circuit Court with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.


Furnace blamed for rural Melvin fire

RURAL MELVIN – A malfunctioning furnace is believed to have caused a fire that destroyed two-story country home west of Melvin on Tuesday afternoon.

About 30 firefighters from three volunteer departments responded to the fire at 910 E. Ford County Road 1200 N around 4:15 p.m., said Larry Boundy, chief of the Melvin-Roberts Fire Protection District.


Jeremy Camp concert canceled, won't be rescheduled

CHAMPAIGN – The Jeremy Camp concert at the University of Illinois Assembly Hall in Champaign that had been rescheduled for April 30, 2010 has been canceled because of routing issues. It will not be rescheduled.
