Buffone glad to see football return to Wrigley

Blinn's blitz lifts visitors

PEORIA – Macie Blinn scored a career-high 22 points as Illinois used a barrage of three-point shots to bury Bradley 73-51 on Friday for its first victory of the season.

Blinn's 5-of-8 performance from beyond the three-point arc helped the Illini finish 9 of 18. Amber Moore was 4 for 5 on threes while scoring 16 points in 16 minutes.


Close calls, but area swimmers shut out

In girls' basketball

– Danville 68, Mahomet-Seymour 65. ERIEL DAVIS scored 21 points and the Vikings centered 10 three-pointers in a double-overtime victory. Davis had three of the Vikings' threes. KESHIA LIGGINS (16 points) and BREANNA KEYS (13 points) also hit three three-pointers each.


Game 5 notes: McCamey puts on show

Before Thursday's game against Texas, Demetri McCamey got a text message from one of his oldest friends.

"Evan said he's coming," the Illini guard said.


Game 5 grades: UI earns a B

Bruce Weber offered that "his foul trouble might have helped" McCamey. After playing a game-high 42 minutes against Texas, he was limited to 29 against Maryland. That's about the only way the all-tournament selection was limited.
