19-year fugitive from Hoopeston, Ludlow caught in Thailand
DANVILLE — Authorities in Thailand have arrested a former Hoopeston man and Ludlow superintendent who fled the United States about 19 years ago to avoid prosecution on charges that he sexually abused a 13-year-old boy, according to Vermilion County sheriff's authorities.
Georgetown-Ridge Farm school superintendent resigns
GEORGETOWN — School Superintendent Greg Irwin, who offered to apologize publicly for using a district employee, mower and gasoline for personal use, submitted a resignation agreement at a special hearing on Thursday.
His resignation was unanimously accepted by the Georgetown-Ridge Farm School Board.

URBANA — A Fisher teen charged with burglary and escape is due back in court next week.
Champaign County Judge Heidi Ladd ordered Thursday that the 16-year-old boy remain in the Juvenile Detention Center until then.

William D. Dixon, 43, who listed an address of the 0-100 block of Willow Court, was arrested Wednesday in the 1200 block of North Champaign Street after he allegedly fled from Champaign police.

URBANA — An Urbana woman pleaded innocent Thursday to animal cruelty charges.
Judy Smith, 57, who listed an address in the 1200 block of Lanore Drive, pleaded innocent to four counts of failure to provide care to animals, a felony because of a prior animal cruelty conviction she had.

URBANA — A Champaign man has been charged with causing the death of his friend in a motorcycle collision that happened last September.

CHAMPAIGN -- Current and former elected officials and staffers from the city of Champaign buried a time capsule on Thursday as the city's celebration of its sesquicentennial winds down.
The capsule was buried near the Stone Arch Bridge north of Springfield Avenue.
