Heart & Stroke Ball to celebrate classic Hollywood glamour

CHAMPAIGN – Classic Hollywood glamour is the theme for the ninth annual Champaign County Heart & Stroke Ball.

The black-tie gala offers dancing to big band and jazz music, gourmet food plus live and silent auctions.

It will be Feb. 28 at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1800 S. First St., C. A welcome reception and silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. The program starts at 7 p.m.

The event has a goal of raising $210,000 this year. The money goes to the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. During the last five years, the national associations have given almost $5 million in research grants to the University of Illinois, according to a news release from Learn and Live, the Midwest affiliate for the associations.

Curt Anderson, managing director of Busey Wealth Management and his wife, Jo Anderson, are chairpersons of the area ball. The main sponsor is the Carle Heart and Vascular Institute.

Tickets cost $250 per person and may be reserved by contacting Amanda Beckler of Springfield, corporate events director of Learn and Live, at 355-5119 or amanda.beckler@heart.org.
