Mahomet youth club benefit to include raffle, food, auction
MAHOMET – The annual Mahomet Area Youth Club Celebration and Auction is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Elks Lake Pavilion in Lake of the Woods Park, Mahomet.
An admission charge of $50 per person covers all food and beverages.
Offerings include a variety of hors d'oeuvres and desserts specially prepared for the event by "chefbenjamin & company," accompanied by a selection of Illinois wines from Alto Vineyards and other beverages sponsored by Orange & Blue Distribution.
Of the more than 40 items up for auction are: four choice tickets with a reserved parking pass for the Bears vs. Rams game on Dec. 6; the whole 72-page indictment of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, autographed by the members of the Impeachment Committee (donated by Rep. Chapin Rose); a tour of World War II battlefield sites in France hosted by Jim and Judy Yost; a personalized tour in Germany and Austria with Trudy and Gary Matthews; a resort vacation package; an orange and blue Illini golf bag with the Chief logo that comes with a commitment from Chief Illiniwek XXXVII to autograph the bag for the buyer; a guitar from Corson Music autographed by Champaign's own country music legend Alison Krauss; and a hand-carved trunk from Afghanistan made especially for and donated by Sgt. Joel Jessup, a Mahomet-Seymour graduate who served with the 634th Logistics Task Force at Camp Phoenix in Afghanistan. There will also be a set of flags flown over Camp Phoenix and many more items that will be listed at http://mayc_online.home.mchsi.com prior to the auction.
Also, 25 winners in the cash raffle will also be announced during the evening, with the grand finale being the drawing of a $10,000 wining ticket.
Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 590-2860. A limited number of raffle tickets are also still available and can be ordered by calling the same number, or at one of the following Mahomet businesses: Busey Bank, Mahomet Insurance Centre, First Mid Illinois Bank and Trust, Fisher National Bank and Mahomet IGA.
All of the proceeds will help support positive programs for kids at the Mahomet Area Youth Club.
