Music, play among Sleepy Creek's many special events
FAIRMOUNT – Sleepy Creek Vineyards is offering several special events, plus its free Sunday coffee and a challenge to think about to make the cold weather a little more bearable.
First up, this weekend, at 7 p.m. Saturday is the Boulder Acoustic Society, a four-member group from Boulder, Colo. Tickets are $12 per person. Check out their music at www.boulderacousticsociety.net.
Reservations are recommended for all special events due to limited seating. Patrons can bring their own snacks or buy them to go with the wine and select craft beers offered for sale.
At 7 p.m. Feb. 12, 13 and 14, the Red Mask Players present the romantic comedy, "Talley's Folley." Tickets are $15.
Singer, songwriter Daphne Willis will bring her soulful voice and bluesy music with a pop edge to the vineyard at 7 p.m. Feb. 20. Tickets are $12. Check out her music at www.daphnewillis.com.
Sleepy Creek is also calling for participants in its annual Sow's Ear Challenge.
This year's challenge is to use any kind of plastic containment device. It's open to anyone of any ability. Artists and designers can use any type of plastic container to create something artistic, beautiful or, perhaps, even functional. All entries must be received between March 19 and 31. The show opens April 3. The People's Choice Award winner receives $100.
Free coffee continues from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through April 25. Visitors can sample the Alaskan roasted Raven's Brew Coffee with names like Wicked Wolf, Deadmans Reach and Ebony Pearl.
