Marathon opens 200 spots for 5K

The Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon race directors have opened 200 more spots for the Provena 5K Run/Walk, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Online registration for these spots will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday and will continue until midnight Wednesday or until the spots are filled, whichever comes first.

Should any of the 200 spots not be filled online by midnight Wednesday, the race will post to the home page of its web site the number of remaining spots, which will be available on a first-come, first-serve, walk-up basis at the health and fitness expo on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in gym 2 of the Activities and Recreation Center.

Each runner receives a T-shirt, goody bag, finisher's medal, and post race food and beverages.

Registration for the Busey Illinois Youth Run, which kicks off at 2:30 on Saturday, April 30, also remains open through 2:00 p.m. on race day.

To register for either run, visit and click on the registration tab on the homepage.
