Assembly Hall announces Death Cab for Cutie, Lewis Black shows

CHAMPAIGN — The University of Illinois has announced two acts coming to the Assembly Hall this fall, including Death Cab for Cutie and comedian Lewis Black.

Tickets for both go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at the Assembly Hall Box Office, or charge by phone at 333-5000.

Death Cab for Cutie and guest Telekinesis will play at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, and tickets range from $26 to $35, with a $3 discount for local UI students.

Death Cab is an indie-rock band from Seattle that recently released the album “Codes and Keys.”

Black will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7, and tickets range from $25 to $45, with a $5 discount for local UI students. His performance, called “In God We Rust,” is intended for an adult audience.

Black is “a staple of late night television and a regular commentator on The Daily Show, David Letterman and more,” according to a press release from the Assembly Hall. He’s also appeared in HBO specials and on feature films.
