Magician brings act home to C-U

CHAMPAIGN — Magician and Champaign native Markus Clegg will perform a one-man show, "Magic and Other Nonsense," at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the SoDo Theatre, 114 S. Neil St., C.

The show, Clegg's first public one in his hometown, will present sleight of hand.

Clegg is a professional magician living in Urbana. After having lived and worked in various cities from Las Vegas to Chicago for more than 20 years, he returned here to be near his family and to continue his magic career. He mainly works for private clubs and businesses.

"I like to blend comedy, magic and a bit of theater into an experience that will amuse and delight," he said in a news release. "Magic allows us to step away from the cares of the world in a very unique way. It helps us remember that the world is full of wonder, and all we need to do is stop for just a moment, and we will see it."

Clegg's clients include Kraft, Christie Clinic, Martini Park Chicago, Montana Mikes, as well as numerous civic organization and clubs.

Tickets for his show are $10 in advance and available at Exile on Main at 1 Main St., C, and online at The tickets are $12 at the door.
