College choir from Mississippi to give performances here

The Hinds Community College Choir of Utica, Miss., will make stops in Champaign, Urbana and Danville this week while on its annual Midwest Choir Tour.

The choir, directed by Bobby G. Cooper, a University of Illinois alumnus, is traveling with the Jubilee Singers, the men's chorus at Hinds, one of the historically black colleges that have performed nationally and internationally.

Their concerts here are free and open to the public:

— 9:55 to 10:45 a.m., Donald Decker Theatre, Central High School, 610 W. University Ave., C.

— 2:15 to 3 -p.m., Choir and Jubilee Singers, Booker T. Washington STEM, 606 E. Grove St., C.

— 7 p.m., Choir and Jubilee Singers, C.M.E. Church, 448. E. Williams St., Danville.


— 9 to 9:30 a.m., Choir and Jubilee Singers, Canaan Academy, 207 Central Ave., U.

_ 1:15 to 2:30 p.m., Urbana Middle School Cafetorium, 1201 S. Vine St., U.

— 7 p.m., Choir and Jubilee Singers, Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 1310 N. Sixth St., C.


— 8:45 to 9:15 a.m., Choir and Jubilee Singers, Prairie Elementary School, 2102 E. Washington St., U.
