Artists against AIDS sale begins this week

CHAMPAIGN — Artists Against AIDS, the largest annual fundraiser for Greater Community AIDS Project, will be held April 26-29 at the McKinley Fitness Center, 500 W. Church St., C.

That's a new location this year. In previous years, the event has taken place in downtown Champaign.

This year, Artists Against AIDS will feature the works of more than 200 local artists, who will donate at least 50 percent of their proceeds to GCAP. A variety of artwork, including glass, ceramic, sculpture, photography, paintings and fiber works, will be available for purchase.

Anyone coming to the Jazzy Opening Night reception April 26 has first chance at purchasing the artwork, with food, champagne and entertainment provided. There's a $50 admission/donation fee for the reception.

The rest of the sale from April 27-29 is open admission-free from 6-9 p.m. Friday, 2-9 p.m. Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. Sunday, with an artist's reception from 3-5 p.m. Sunday.
