CHAMPAIGN — Ichiban Buffet, a restaurant serving a variety of cuisines, has slated its grand opening for Friday at the Schnucks plaza in Champaign.
The restaurant plans to include more than 120 items on its buffet, including Chinese, American and Japanese food, according to Johnny Wang, brother of restaurant manager Cindy Wang.
The lunch buffet will be $6.99, while the dinner buffet will be $10.25, with children under 3 years old eating for free, Wang stated in an email. A senior discount will be available.
Hours will be 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, he added. The owner is Ting Lian Tang.
The space Ichiban Buffet is taking — at 105 N. Mattis Ave., Suite D — has been occupied by several restaurants over the years.
Initially, Carlos O'Kelly's Mexican Cafe operated there. It was succeeded in 2004 by Four Seasons House, a Chinese buffet. Four years later, Asian Star Buffet began a short run there.
