Celebration Company plans special events in October

URBANA — The Celebration Company at the Station Theatre will present  special events this month, including one tonight:

— 7 p.m. Monday (Oct. 8), A public reading of the original play "Helen of Sparta" by Dana Engelhardt, at the Station Theatre, 223 N. Broadway Ave., U.

This is the first in a series of new play readings that will take place during the company's 41st season featuring the voices of Station Theatre veterans as well as a few new players.

After the reading, there will be a short, casual discussion of the play for those who wish to participate.

— 2 p.m. Oct. 14, "My Books Are Like Water: A Celebration of Mark Twain by the Station Theatre," Urbana Free Library, Lewis Auditorium.

— 7 p.m. Oct. 16, "My Books Are Like Water: A Celebration of Mark Twain by the Station Theatre," Champaign Public Library auditorium.

Participants in the Twain readings will include Gary Ambler, Barbara Evans, Mathew Green, James Haas, Joi Hoffsommer and Kay Bohannon Holley. David Butler will provide musical accompaniment.
