4 rehearsals left for Handel's 'Messiah'

URBANA — There are only four more rehearsals left for the 2012 Handel's "Messiah" presentation at the Canaan Baptist Church in Urbana.

Anyone interested may join in by attending rehearsals, which will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, as well as Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 in the sanctuary of Canaan Baptist Church, 402 W. Main St., U.

The Dec. 6 dress rehearsal with the orchestra will last an extra hour, from 7 to 9 p.m.

The choir will sing from the G. Schirmer edition. There also will be praise music performed in the second part of the performance. Deacon Willie T. Summerville is directing.

The main "Messiah" performance, at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Canaan Academy Gymnasium, will be free of charge to the public.

A free-will offering will be taken for the academy's scholarship fund.
