Dog art will be displayed

URBANA — Amara Yoga & Arts will open "Canis Familiaris," a group exhibition of artworks about animals, particularly dogs, on Friday evening during its annual holiday party.

The opening reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Amara on the east side of Lincoln Square Village, Urbana.

The artists who have work in the exhibition are Knut Bauer, Joan Stolz, Maria Lux, Susan Smith, Peggy Shaw, Lyosha Svinarski, Kathyrn Fitzgerald and Miriam Martincic.

The holiday party/opening is a child-friendly event; kids will be invited to make snowflakes and other holiday crafts during the party.

The show will remain on view through Feb. 15. The work may be viewed from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
