Organizers looking for signature image for Boneyard festival

CHAMPAIGN — 40 North 88 West, the Champaign County arts council, invites local artists to submit work to be considered for the official signature image of the Boneyard Arts Festival in April.

All submitted images will be juried by a panel of local arts professionals. There is no fee to enter, but artists must be residents of Champaign County to be eligible.

To enter, artists should submit a completed entry form and up to three digital images of original work by Jan. 16. The winning work will be announced no later than Jan. 30.

The Boneyard Arts Festival official signature image will be featured on all festival registration materials, posters, postcards, billboards, print and online advertising, and on the cover of The News-Gazette Boneyard Arts Festival Map, the event's official guide that is distributed to 100-plus festival venues and 40,000 homes throughout the county.

In submitting artwork for consideration as the festival's signature image, artists grant permission to 40 North 88 West to use the work on various promotional pieces. Artists also should understand that a detail or section of the winning piece may ultimately be used as the signature image for the festival; 40 North 88 West will work with the artist to ensure the integrity of the piece is respected while also developing effective marketing that features the image.

Entry forms are available at http://www.40north.org or at 106 S. Neil St., C. To have an entry form mailed, phone 351-9841.

The entry form and image files (on disc) should be mailed or delivered to 40 North 88 West, 106 S. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. Applicants should include a self-addressed envelope if they wish to have their discs returned.

To submit images and entry form by email, send to kwhite@40north.org. Artists without access to the technology to digitize images should call or email 40 North 88 West at the contact listed above.

The Boneyard Arts Festival is set for April 11-14.
