Weekend dance performances scheduled

URBANA — Dance at Illinois will present "Perspectives," featuring new works choreographed and performed by the bachelor of fine arts degree candidates in the dance department at the University of Illinois, on Friday and Saturday.

Produced by the senior class of 18 dancers, the project is the culmination of their energy and dedication to the creative process during their time at Dance at Illinois.

The five solos, three group pieces and a dance for the camera showcase the diverse artistic viewpoints of the senior class.

Besides performing pieces created by seniors, students also will perform works by Dance at Illinois faculty, alumni and guest artists from Chicago and Taiwan.

The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the dance rehearsal space at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is free.

The dance for the camera, "A Flower Doesn't Keep You Warm," will be presented Dec. 9, with the time and location to be announced. Admission to that also is free.
