4-piece band making local stop

CHAMPAIGN — The Prairie Crossroads Blues Society will present Jerry Lee & The Juju Kings on Saturday at Memphis on Main, 55 E. Main St. The band will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5, or $3 for blues society members.

The event will raise money to send the winner of the Prairie Crossroads Blues Society local competition to the International Blues Challenge from Jan. 30 through Feb. 2 in Memphis.

Based in Dwight, Jerry Lee & The Juju Kings is a four-piece band consisting of guitar, bass, drums and piano that performs a combination of traditional blues and rock. The band released "Mojo Palace" a few years back on the Clique Records label and is working on material for a follow-up release.

Opening for Jerry Lee & The Juju Kings will be the Susan Williams Band, which plays a mix of genres and has established a local following. Williams and her band will take the stage at 8 p.m.
