CHAMPAIGN — Popular travel show host and author Rick Steves will share what he's learned in 30 years of travel during a special fundraising event for Illinois Public Media at 6 p.m. March 14 at the I Hotel and Conference Center.
He'll talk about how travel has broadened his perspective and how travel challenges the beliefs people assume to be "self-evident and God-given," according to a press release.
Regular tickets are $35. Seating is limited. To make your reservation, email email@example.com or call 333-7300.
Special tickets with premium seating and other offers are available for making a pledge to WILL. A $250 contribution qualifies a pair of attendees for premium seating and an invitation to brunch with Steves on March 15. A $150 contribution qualifies a pair of attendees for premium seating, a copy of Steves' latest travel guide, an issue of Travels with Rick Steves magazine and a Rick Steves Europe planning map.
Steves, host of "Rick Steves' Europe" on WILL-TV and "Travel with Rick Steves" on WILL-AM, will include tidbits such as why India is his favorite country and why trains are pulling into European stations with birds squashed onto their windshields.
Today's travel writer can be much like the medieval court jester, Steves says: He can bring home the truth about a changing world and not get killed.
