Annual high school band festival set at Millikin

DECATUR — Millikin University will host its annual high school band festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

Select high schools from central Illinois will showcase 20 minutes worth of music each in a noncompetitive setting for a panel of adjudicators.

The panel includes Millikin School of Music faculty members Gary Shaw and Neal Smith, along with retired Hoopeston and Danville school districts employee Mark Lindvahl and Illinois Wesleyan University Professor Steven Eggleston.

Among the area high schools performing in the festival are Monticello, with conductor Alison Allender, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and Clinton High School, conducted by Tim Holl, at 1:30 p.m.
