Hip-hop gospel group visits for Family Rock Jam show
CHAMPAIGN — Hostyle Gospel, a hip-hop group with a Christian twist, will be part of the 2013 Family Rock Jam from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Champaign School of Music, 1712 S. Duncan Road.
The Family Rock Jam will be an interactive rock workshop and all-out jam with Hostyle Gospel for Champaign-Urbana families of adults and children of all ages.
Hostyle Gospel co-founder DJ Morton said the jam will offer families a chance to experience the musical elements of hip hop.
Hostyle Gospel so far has completed two albums and four mix tapes and is working on its third album, to be released in mid-2013. The group's live shows include original songs and lyrical, Christ-centered remixes of Top 20 hits from major artists.
No experience is necessary to participate in the Family Rock Jam; participants who have rhythm instruments should bring them.
Tickets for Champaign School of Music families are free if reserved in advance or $5 at the door. All other people would pay $5 per family in advance and $8 per family at the door. To reserve tickets, go to http://www.champaignschoolofmusic.org.
