CHARLESTON — A reception to celebrate the 2013 Graduate Art Exhibition at Eastern Illinois University will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Tarble Arts Center on the EIU campus.
The 2013 Graduate Art Exhibition, featuring work by candidates in the master's of arts program, is on view from Saturday through April 28.
The media in the exhibition ranges from traditional painting and drawing to digital projections. Nearly half of the artists have created installations — temporary environments intended to envelop the viewer in a visual experience. And all of the artists deal with the issues of digital media or the truth of surface appearance, or a combination of both.
Represented are Jenn Dalton, printed and projected digital images; Caroline Evans, mixed media fiber works and drawings; Stephanie Frank, geometric paintings with digital projections; Nick Gunty, mixed media installation with projections and sound; Scott Jenkins, large mixed media mural on paper; Evelyn Lozano, oil portraits and drawings; Laura McGinn, oil and acrylic paintings based on digital imagery; Andy Plank, paintings and drawings; and Dustin Regul, wall sculpture installation of wood dowels, paper and lighting.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by the Tarble Arts Center and the EIU Art Department. The Tarble, 2010 Ninth St., Charleston, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Mondays.
