Two fundraising events set for Relay for Life

CHAMPAIGN — The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Champaign County has two fundraisers coming up: one Saturday and the other next Sunday.

The first is Music For A Cure from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Bowl Tavern, 106 N. Race St., U. Local musicians John Coppess, John McMahon, Anne Clements and Margaret O'Brien will perform.

The event features a 50-50 raffle, a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Rod Sickler Spa and other items.

People also will have a chance to cast a vote in the "Bras and Boxers for a Cure" fundraiser. Teams that will participate in the Relay for Life in June have decorated bras and/or boxers and entered them into the fundraiser. The entries will "travel" to different Relay for Life events, and people will vote for their favorite bras and boxers up until 8 p.m. June 8 by donating money for their favorite entry.

The second event, Spring Fling — Fundraiser for American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Champaign County, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. April 14 at the Eastland Suites Hotel & Conference Center, 1907 N. Cunningham Ave., U.

Twenty-five vendors from various home based businesses will offer their wares, and there will be raffles, door prizes and refreshments.
