Urbana schedules art workshops

URBANA — The city's public arts program has scheduled several Art at the Market workshops and performances. They start Saturday.

The workshops and performances will be on Walnut Street near the city tent at the northwest entrance to Market at the Square, the weekly farmers' market at Illinois and Vine in Urbana. The events are free, open to all ages and require no registration.

The schedule:

— May 11: Low Tech Printmaking with Lisa Kesler from 8 a.m. to noon and music by Desafinado, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

— June 22: T-Shirt to Tote Bag with Makerspace Urbana, 8 a.m. to noon, with music by Ryan Groff of Elsinore, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

— July 20: CD Weaving with Kathryn Fitzgerald, 8 a.m. to noon, with music by The Turinos, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

— Aug. 17: Letterpress Postcards, Soybean Press, 8 a.m. to noon, with music by Los Guapos, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

— Sept. 28: Re-Use, Re-Purpose, Re-Create with The I.D.E.A. Store; 8 a.m. to noon, with music by The Michael Fenoglio Trio, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
