'Music Man' youth show auditions scheduled

URBANA — The Urbana Park District will have auditions next weekend for its 22nd annual Youth Summer Theatre performance of "The Music Man."

The auditions are open to actors age 9-18, with the oldest having just finished senior year of high school. Actors younger than 9 need approval to audition. The auditions will take place at the Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton, U.

Chorus auditions are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Solo auditions will be from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. next Sunday. Callbacks will be 5 to 10 p.m. May 20.

The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. July 25-27 and 2 p.m. July 28 at the Urbana High School Theatre, 1002 S. Race St., U.

Youths may register for an audition for either the chorus only or a named role. For information, call Erica Cooper-Peyton at 367-1544, ext. 206.

Tickets for the show will go on sale starting June 24 and are $14 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens and $7 for children 12 and younger Tickets may be purchased by credit card at 367-1544. They also may be purchased in person at the Phillips Recreation Center or from a cast member, as well as at the door.
