Tour will make stop in Urbana

URBANA — The Heavenly Harp duo of Karin and Joy Gunderson will give a concert at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2200 S. Philo Road.

The Gundersons live in Phoenix. Joy recently graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.; her mother, Karin, an alumna of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., is known as the "singing harpist" in Phoenix, where she has worked with hospice programs for the past 11 years. Their music includes traditional and contemporary favorites, some with audience singing.

The mother-daughter duo is on a tour that will include, besides Urbana, concerts in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Missouri. Afterward, they will participate in the national conference of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, beginning June 30 in Valparaiso, Ind.

There is no admission charge for the concert in Urbana but a free-will offering will be taken. An informal reception will follow the concert, and CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase. For more information, visit http://www.HeavenlyHarp.org.
