Bikes are theme for show at Indi Go

CHAMPAIGN — "Tandem: Bicycles and Artwork" will open Friday evening at the Indi Go Artist's Co-op, 9 E. University Ave.

The second annual event will begin with the opening from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and the works will remain on display through Aug. 21.

The show will feature for sale reasonably-priced, bicycle-inspired posters and works of art from more than 20 designers and artists.

The prints will be sold for $20 apiece, with original artwork somewhat higher. The artists will keep 50 percent of the proceeds, and the remaining funds will go to The Bike Project of Urbana-Champaign to help establish a cooperative bicycle shop in north Champaign.

Tandem volunteers will accept cash and credit card payments in person at the opening.

"Even if you don't consider yourself an artist, 'Tandem' is a great opportunity for you to share your work with the Champaign-Urbana area," said event co-organizers Molly Poganski of the Living Letter Press and Joel Gillespie. "We hope the show will encourage more collaboration and connection between the bicycle and art communities."
