ACE nomination deadline is Sept. 9
CHAMPAIGN — Nominations are being accepted at http://www.40north.org for the 2013 ACE Awards. The deadline for submitting a nomination is midnight Sept. 9.
The nominees and winners will be feted at an awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at The Canopy Club in Urbana.
The ACE (arts, culture and education) awards are presented annually by 40 North 88 West Champaign County Arts, Culture and Entertainment Council to honor the work of artists, teachers, businesses, individuals, organizations, volunteers and community and government leaders.
Each award highlights a different part of the cultural life of our community and celebrates those who, through hard work, dedication and creative energy, cultivate the arts of Champaign County.
The seven categories are advocate, artist, volunteer, business, teacher, student, and lifetime achievement. Nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of community-based judges representing a broad cross-section of Champaign County.
Anyone may submit a nomination for an ACE Award and may nominate multiple candidates; self-nominations are accepted, too. Previous nominees may be nominated again.
To be eligible to receive an ACE, a person must be 14 or older and a resident of Champaign County.
Tickets to the ninth Annual ACE Awards are $10 each and are available by calling 40 North at 351-9841. Tickets may also be purchased in advance at The Canopy Club or at the 40 North office, 106 S. Neil St., C. Tickets will be available at the door for $15.
