Fundraiser to benefit Illinois Public Media

CHAMPAIGN — Prairie Fruits Farm, a local goat dairy, farmstead creamery and fruit and vegetable farm, will host a special fundraising dinner for Illinois Public Media at 3 p.m. Sept. 15 on the farm, 4410 N. Lincoln Ave.

The dinner will include a Midwestern-style hog roast with pork raised on the farm, side dishes made with locally produced vegetables and grains and a cheese course featuring prize-winning Prairie Fruits Farm cheeses with preserves made by chef Alisa DeMarco.

The dessert course will showcase fruit from the farm's orchards along with homemade gelato.

Guests also will receive a tour of the farm, with time to look around the gardens and orchards on their own, and will have the opportunity to purchase cheese and gelato to take home.

Tickets to the fundraising event are $250 per person.

The event is limited to 45 seats. Prairie Fruits Farm's regular schedule of dinners is sold out for the season.

The dinner will be filmed as part of a special documentary produced by WILL-TV to air in December. It will focus on Prairie Fruits Farm and the farm-to-table movement in central Illinois.

For information or to purchase tickets, call 333-7300 or visit will.illinois.edu/farmtotable.
