Illinois Bands Corner, Aug. 29, 2013

The University of Illinois bands are a beloved institution in Champaign-Urbana. Here is what they are doing this weekend:


4:30 p.m.: Warmup at historic Harding Band Building in sections on the north lawn

4:40 p.m.: March out from the Band Building

4:50 p.m.: Marching Illini rehearsal on the field next to the Business Instruction Facility

TBA: Warmups, cheers and cadences led by the Marching Illini drumline in front of the Alma Mater statue for about 30 minutes


7:15 a.m.: Official game day rehearsal in Memorial Stadium (1 hour, 15 minutes)

8:30 a.m.: Illini Walk, in which Marching Illini and cheerleaders welcome coach Tim Beckman and the UI football team to game day, starting at Kirby Avenue and First Street

9:30 a.m.: Marching Illini drumline public warmup, Harding Band Building (about 30 minutes)

9:45 a.m.: Marching Illini inspection, Amory, in which band warms up and inspects uniforms (about 30 minutes)

10:15 a.m.: Official Marching Illini March-Out begins at Armory, west on Gregory, south on Fourth Street, west on Kirby to the south tunnel at Memorial Stadium

10:40 a.m.: Official pregame performance by the Marching Illini

TBA: Postgame march-out from Memorial Stadium to the Education Building

TBA: Postgame concert on the steps of the Education Building (15-30 minutes)
