Actor will give lecture at UI in September
URBANA — A free screening of "School Daze" is set for 8 p.m. Tuesday on the University of Illinois Quad, a few weeks ahead of a campus visit by one of the film's stars, Giancarlo Esposito.
Esposito, an Emmy-nominated and Critics Choice Award-winning actor in AMC's "Breaking Bad," will visit the UI to celebrate one of his collaborations with Spike Lee 25 years ago: "School Daze," in which he starred alongside Laurence Fishburne, Tisha Campbell and Ossie Davis.
Esposito's lecture will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 in Room 112 of Gregory Hall, 810 S. Wright St.
Both presentations are co-sponsored by the Illini Union Board, the Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Access and the Multiracial/Multiethnic Student Initiative.
Esposito also has starred in such films as "The Usual Suspects" and "Ali." His directorial debut came in 2008 with the award-winning film, "Gospel Hill," starring Danny Glover, Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett.
