Exhibit, concert set at Indi Go

CHAMPAIGN — Healing Works, an art exhibition sponsored by Rape Advocacy, Counseling and Education Services, will open Wednesday evening at the Indi Go Artist Co-op, 9 E. University Ave., C.

The reception will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and the show will be open for viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday.

Healing Works is a collection of art created by survivors of sexual violence and their supporters. Due to the nature of the show, the hours have been scheduled so that trained staff from Rape Advocacy, Counseling and Education Services can provide crisis intervention.

Also at Indi Go this week: Valley Young will perform there at 8 p.m. Tuesday; the band is touring to promote its new album, "Year of the Bear."

Since early 2009, Artemus James and Annabelle LaFoy have woven harmonies into a tapestry of sound.

"It's 'fringe folk,'" James said of the band's sound. "A nice patchwork of all of our influences."
