Jazz walk planned at Meadowbrook

URBANA — The Urbana Park District's ninth annual Jazz Walk in Meadowbrook Park will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The free event will feature local musicians performing in different jazz styles. The public is invited to walk the paths and to stop and listen as long as they like to each group. Musicians will be found next to the large sculptures that sit within the tall-grass prairie.

The performers this year: Sharon Cho Combo; Noah Larson & Company; Derick Cordoba Combo; Erik Swanson Trio; DR Dixie Band; Monticello High School Jazz Combo; Katie Flynn & Friends; Jonathan Beckett & Young Kim; Sounds like Purple; New Orleans Jazz Machine; Almost "A" Quintet; Rick Kubetz & Terry Bush; and Los Guapos.

Parking will be available at the two Meadowbrook lots: one on Race Street south of Windsor Road and the other at Windsor and Vine Street. Overflow parking will be at Stone Creek Church at Windsor and Race.

The part district that evening will hand out maps of the park that show each piece in the Wandell Sculpture Garden and provide short bios of the featured performers.

This event is made possible with support from Clark-Lindsey Village.
