Aspiring playwrights can enter Red Mask contest

DANVILLE — The Red Mask Players theater group is sponsoring a one-act play contest open to anyone from high school age to adults.

The winning plays will be presented at the Kathryn Randolph Theater, 601 N. Vermilion St., Danville, in summer 2014.

All the scripts submitted must be typed. There is no payment for use of scripts. The authors will be furnished a DVD of the production as compensation.

Only unpublished, original plays will be considered. They will be judged on originality, quality of writing and adaptability for the Red Mask stage. The decision of the selection committee is final.

All authors will be notified in writing of the contest results. Red Mask Players reserves the right to edit for gratuitous sex, violence or language.

Red Mask Players claims exclusive rights to the plays for the rehearsal and performance period. After that, all rights revert to the author.

The plays must be submitted by Dec. 31. Plays postmarked after Dec. 31 will not be considered. Scripts may be sent to Sue Harden, c/o Red Mask Players, P.O. Box 814, Danville, IL 61834-0814.

Manuscripts will be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
