Guitarist to perform at benefit concert

CHAMPAIGN — Tickets are on sale now for a Nov. 2 benefit performance by Christian/rock guitarist Phil Keaggy at 7:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 S. Prospect Ave.

Tickets are $15 (in advance) or $20 (at the door) and are available at http://www.itickets.com/events/307559.html or at the church office. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the concert, which will benefit The Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Champaign and the Imagine No Malaria campaign of the United Methodist Church.

Keaggy's solo career has spanned more than 30 years and includes more than 50 solo albums, both vocal and instrumental, as well as eight releases with his band Glass Harp.

He won his first Dove Award in 1988 for his instrumental album, "The Wind and the Wheat." His second Dove Award came in 1992 for his Celtic-influenced, "Beyond Nature." For three years in a row, he was voted one of the top finger-style guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine readers.
