Group's exhibit shown at Illini Union

URBANA — The Illini Union Art Gallery is showing "Reflections by Artisans 10," an exhibition from a local group of artists, through Nov. 29.

Artisans 10 was established in 2005 with the goal of creating a dynamic in which Champaign-Urbana artists could come together to critique each other's work and help each other in the creative process.

"The Illini Union Board was attracted to this show because these are local artists who work in a variety of mediums," Illini Union Board program adviser Tearria Beck—Scott said. "The fact that the group is all female also adds an important perspective to their work."

"Reflections" explores the literal and subjective narrative of the word. The show includes visual reflections and interpretations of life and death as well as the inner dialogue and emotions of the artist. The pieces demonstrate the range of styles that the artists work in as well as the diversity of their points of view.

The Artisan 10 members are Sandra Batzli, Lisle Casper, Judy Jones, Jamie Kruidenier, Jana Mason, Ann McDowell, Mary McDonald, Dot Replinger, Ann Rund and Bonnie Switzer.

The art gallery is in the northwest wing of the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., U.
