Applications accepted for 2014 scholarship in art

CHAMPAIGN — The National Society of Arts and Letters has opened applications to young artists for the 2014 Naomi Winston Scholarship in Art.

The scholarship is for private study, special training or personal advancement in the applicant's chosen medium. The funds may be used for workshops, museum programs, summer programs, etc.

The scholarship is for artists between the ages of 16 and 22.

The application deadline is Feb. 3; applicants must submit five images of their work and the application form. Two young artists will be chosen by local judges and sent to the national competition. There, $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded. The maximum of $5,000 is received by the first- place winner.
