Illinois bands corner

The University of Illinois bands are a beloved institution in Champaign-Urbana. Here is what they are doing this weekend:

Friday

7 p.m.: Basketball Band at Illini men's game against Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne, State Farm Center

Saturday

2:30 p.m.: Marching Illini at UI football game against Northwestern, Memorial Stadium (for gameday info on bands, visit the website below; for ticket info, visit athletics.illinois.edu)

7 p.m.: Volleyball Band at Illini match against Minnesota, Huff Hall

Tuesday

7:30 p.m.: University Concert Band (led by graduate associate conductors Christopher Gass and Brad Wallace) will perform a repertoire to include works by Samuel Hazo, Frank Erickson, Charles Carter and Clare Grundman; Hindsley Symphonic Band (conducted by visiting assistant director of bands J. Ashley Jarrell) will perform a repertoire that will include works by John Philip Sousa, Aaron Copland, William Walton, and Alfred Reed, Foellinger Great Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (tickets $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $4 for students)

Wednesday

7:30 p.m.: Illinois Wind Orchestra (conducted by Professor Barry Houser and graduate associate conductor Brian Coffill) present a Partners in Music Education shared concert featuring Highland Park High School Wind Symphony (directed by James Hile), Foellinger Great Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (tickets $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $4 for students)
