Fischer Theatre hosts holiday event

DANVILLE — In conjunction with downtown's "A Winter's Gathering," the Fischer Theatre is celebrating by hosting an authors' book signing in the Arts and Entertainment Museum in the lobby of the theater.

The event will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and feature local authors who will be on hand to meet the public and autograph books for sale in the theater's gift shop. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. If any authors living in Danville would like to participate but have not been contacted call Carol Nichols at 474-2028 or email her at cnichols1@dacc.edu as soon as possible.

Also, gift baskets packed with retro candy and bottled soda will be for sale at the theater's volunteer-run gift shop, Stage Presents, which features items that pertain to the Fischer, Danville celebrities, local history, books, locally crafted items and retro sodas from the Homer Soda Co. Popcorn and retro sodas will also be for sale in the theater's caf. Free samples and treats will be offered as supplies last. All proceeds benefit the theater.

The Fischer Theatre is at Vermilion and Harrison streets in downtown Danville. Normal hours for the museum and gift shop are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. To assist with holiday shopping the gift shop will be open from 10 to 3 on Dec. 16-21.
