'Nuncrackers' holiday show is this weekend

GIBSON CITY — The ACT Theatre Company will present the comedy "Nuncrackers — the Nunsense Christmas Musical," this weekend, at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday.

All three shows will be at Father Kirk Hall just south of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 534 N. Wood St., Gibson City.

Written by Dan Goggin, "Nuncrackers" is the Christmas feature from the "Nunsense" series, which started in 1985 as a musical that originated as a line of greeting cards featuring a nun offering funny quips.

The ACT Theatre Company show is set in the basement of Mount St. Helen's convent and school. The sisters are preparing to televise the school's annual Christmas program. Father Virgil and the students join the fun as a cooking show, home-shopping network and a ballet combine for a night of songs, dance and comedy.

The cast is made up of adults and children: Amanda Broaddus, Darrin Brown, Haley Brown, Heidi Brown, Shelbie Butler, Anne Cunningham, Andrea Dunahee, Kennedy Fanson, Sydney Funk, Haven Hathaway, Ashley Hyatt, Katie Kamman, Dan Kearfott, Jordan Kerber, Alex Killian, Liam Killian, Megan Moody, Ann Spangler, Shannon Spangler, Brian Steidinger, Jeremy Steidinger and Brooke Wilfong.

Ann Spangler directs.

Tickets are $10. To reserve tickets, call 641-3000. Seating is limited.
