Auditions set for 'Les Miserables'

DANVILLE — The Danville Light Opera Musical Theatre and the Danville Area Community College theater department will have auditions next week for a collaborative production of "Les Miserables."

They will be in the college's Bremer Auditorium at 2 p.m. next Sunday and 6 p.m. Jan. 14, with callbacks if needed at 6 p.m. Jan. 15.

"Les Miserables" will be performed May 3-4 at the Danville High School Dick Van Dyke Auditorium. Audition materials, including the character list, are available at the circulation desk at the Danville Public Library.

All roles for the show will be cast by the standard audition process and are open to anyone regardless of student/non-student status.

The cast includes characters of all ages, including major roles for children. Individuals who are auditioning will be asked to sing, read and may be asked to dance, as most on-stage roles will involve some choreographed dance numbers.

Persons wishing a singing role, including a part in the ensemble, should prepare a 32-bar selection of their choosing. A piano and accompanist will be available at all auditions.

Persons wishing a non-singing role may waive the singing portion of the audition. Persons wishing to participate in any backstage capacity need only volunteer.
