TUSCOLA — Enjoy a night of Hollywood glamor and entertainment at the Actors' Rural Theatre Company murder-mystery dinner show and fundraiser.
"Murder: Take Two," an interactive murder mystery dinner set in 1940s Hollywood, will be performed Friday and Saturday at the Amishland Red Barn Buffet in Tuscola.
Two actors involved in community theater in Charleston — Richard Jones Jr. and Rachel Zoralee Fisher — will portray the main characters in the show, which explores who killed a washed-up starlet.
Dinner courses will be served between acts as the actors change into different characters such as flamboyant director C.B. DeMillstone and rich investors Lovely and Thirsty Howl II.
Anyone at the dinner could be the murderer; some audience members will be asked to play small parts in the mystery if they feel comfortable doing so.
Audience members are also encouraged to come dressed in the Hollywood glamour theme.
"Naturally the more people get into the show, the more fun it will be for everybody," ARTCo board member Dave Shunk said.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; diners will be greeted by the characters to set the stage for the evening and begin dinner with their salad. The announcement of a new film by screenwriter Sydney Bruhaha will start the mystery at about 7 p.m.
The show kicks off fundraising efforts by ARTCo to upgrade seating for future productions.
"We've been working with the Tuscola Women's Club over the last few years to help raise money to improve our seating arrangements for our audience," Shunk said.
The community theater company based in Tuscola recently met its first goal of purchasing new seating platforms, which will provide easier set-up and better viewing for the audience, he said. The next goal is to purchase padded chairs to make theatergoers more comfortable.
